Doch Chkae, the Cambodian Death metal band from the slums of Phnom Penh will play at the Wacken Open Air this year!
We are really glad that our documentary inspired the world’s largest metal festival to give these boys a chance and that their Visa-complications from last year were finally sorted out in an amazing team-effort.
More than 10000 people signed a petition last year for the authorities to grant Doch Chkae the necessary visa to allow the young Cambodian band to perform at the Wacken Open Air 2018. Despite intense public campaigning and strong political efforts their application was unfortunately turned down in the end.
Yet the band, everyone endured and the persistance was finally rewarded. This month, Doch Chkae were informed that their visa application has been approved and the band will be allowed to enter Germany to perform at Wacken Open Air 2019!
